Vacancy for Postdoctoral Researcher in NLP at DTU Copenhagen working with NaCTeM

We seek a full-time postdoctoral researcher in NLP, working in the Novo Nordisk Foundation, Center for Biosustainability, Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in Copenhagen. The researcher will join a multi-disciplinary team with diverse specialties in computational biology, data engineering, software development and natural language processing to carry out research and development into a new state-of-the-art informatics platform.
Work carried out will directly support approximately 300 world class scientists in Copenhagen and San Diego in their quest for development of new environment friendly products, better and less energy consuming manufacturing processes, new medical treatments, climate friendly farming, etc.
Tasks will include:
- Developing new algorithms for relation extraction and summarisation (extractive, abstractive), using (semi)-supervised and unsupervised techniques, transfer learning and distant supervision from the scientific literature
- Evaluating and improving the performance of NLP models and validate the accuracy of extracted knowledge
- Working closely with a software engineering team to translate best-performing techniques into production
- Supporting and leading graduate and undergraduate students, as well as summer interns in NLP
Although the position is located at DTU Biosustain, the NLP research will be mentored by Associate Scientific Director, Prof. Sophia Ananiadou. Sophia is also the Director of the National Centre for Text Mining (NaCTeM), Department of Computer Science at The University of Manchester, UK. The successful candidates will benefit from the vibrant research environments of both DTU Biosustain and NaCTeM.
