Prof Jun'ichi Tsujii meets with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe

Prof Jun'ichi Tsujii, Scientic Advisor to NaCTeM and director of the Artificial Intelligence Research Center (AIRC), Japan, met with Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe on May 8, 2019. The purpose of the meeting, also attended by the president of the Science Council of Japan, was to brief the Prime Minister on recommendations regarding AI and Society, ahead of the G7 Summit, which will take place in France at the end of August 2019.
The recommendations presented to the Prime Minister were one of the outcomes of the S7 (Science 7) meeting, held at the end March 2019 in Paris, in which Prof. Tsujii represented the Science Council of Japan. S7 is held as a preparatory meeting for G7, in which scientists who represent each of G7 countries gather to compile recommendations to the political leaders of G7. The recommendations will be subsquently discussed discussed at the G7 meeting. In the S7 meeting, AI and Society was one of the three scientific subjects recommended for discussion at the G7 summit.
