Profile
My main research interests cover natural language processing, including terminology extraction, semantic analysis, developing NLP tools, and their application in text mining. Currently this is particularly focussed on document clustering and summarisation with a view to combining this with my prior knowledge of information extraction and retrieval across very large document collections.
I am a researcher in the School of Computer Science of the University of Manchester, working on the ASSERT Project at the National Centre for Text Mining. Before I joined the current team I worked in the Special Collections and Archives Group and the Biocomputing and Biocomputation Research Group in the department of Computer Science at the University of Liverpool. I am always interested in possible new collaborations in diverse areas particularly in how my experience in text mining and my other interests can assist in areas outside of biomedical science.
