Text Mining Briefing Session and Demo

2009-05-06

Date: Wednesday 27th May (10:00 - 12:00)
Venue: C2.32 (2nd Floor) Ellen Wilkinson Building

Would you like to generate new ideas and hypotheses without spending hours trawling through masses of literature and notes? If the answer is yes, text mining could help you!

Text mining offers a solution for dealing with the problems of information overload and information overlook. Complementing the human reader, automated text mining systems can analyse large document collections to discover new knowledge and meaning from information sources including clinical reports. The outcomes of text mining can be used to support research and are actively used by various academic and research communities.

Dr Sophia Ananiadou, Director of the National Centre for Text Mining and her team will provide an overview of various text mining tools and services offered by NaCTeM.

The session will also include a brief demonstration of text mining in action. There will be an opportunity for questions and further discussion.
