Vacancy for Software Engineer for Text Mining Applications

Applications are invited for a Software Engineer post (full time) for a period of 5 years

The successful candidate will be part of the National Centre for Text Mining which is hosted by the School of Computer Science, joining a strong and dynamic team in text mining. The National Centre for Text Mining provides next-generation text mining services to the community. We use natural language processing techniques to build advanced search systems in a number of domains. We are seeking a self-motivated, creative and experienced software engineer (must have substantive post graduation experience) to enhance our team expertise particularly in the areas of wrapping text mining analysis workflows, software development for search engines bringing the benefits of text mining to end users, Web services, integrating text mining with knowledge bases, cloud deployment of services and advanced user interfaces.

Essential skills and experience include: Linux/unix, extensive experience of software design and development gained in a professional software development environment, experience of producing distributed solutions and of working with large datasets, Java or C++ with XML technologies, REST/SOAP Web services, knowledge of cloud/cluster computing/SaaS/PaaS, Maven.

Closing Date : 25/11/2018
Salary : 40,792 to 50,132 per annum dependent upon experience
Hours Per week: Full Time
Contract Duration : Starting 1 January 2019 for 5 years
